Weymouth Beach Closure Notice

Notice of beach closure for levelling works

Weymouth Town Council is giving advance notice about annual works on Weymouth Beach, which take place between Monday, 10th and Thursday, 13th, February 2025.

The beach will be closed between the Pavilion Theatre and the Jubilee Clock from 8am Monday 10th February and will remain in place overnight until 7pm on Thursday 13th February, which is to allow beach levelling works to take place.

Entry/exit points from the beach will be barriered off to allow for safe working practices and to protect members of the public while the heavy machinery is in operation on the beach.

Chair of the Environment and Services Committee, Cllr. Matt Bell, said, “The annual work is scheduled for February to help to get the beach level ahead of the town’s busy season. Over the winter, bad weather and high tides move the sand around, so this vital work helps the beach recover and ensures it is ready for the arrival of seasonal tenants, including the kiosks, attraction sites, and heritage attractions.”

Signs to inform the public about the closure will be put up at access points along the beach.

Apologies for any inconvenience while the work is carried out.
