–      Following the success of the first-ever ‘Boscombe Dog Show’, organisers have announced its return with a second event lined for Springtime.

Giving Bournemouth’s proud dog owners an excellent opportunity to show off their pooch, the first ever ‘Boscombe Dog Show’ has helped to raise funds for the PDSA, the UK’s leading vet charity. Following its success, the event will be returning this Spring, bringing a wide variety of handsome hounds and their owners to Boscombe high street.

Held outside the Boscombe branch of the PDSA, the Boscombe Dog Show celebrated beautiful breeds, plus the best trained and most well-behaved canines in Bournemouth. It featured a number of opportunities for canine companions to win Rosettes and the coveted Brindaree Mastiffs, Best in Show Trophy. These were awarded by a team of experienced judges, including dog show veteran Ronnie Miller.

Free to attend the Dog Show encouraged donations to the PDSA, a charity which provides veterinary care to sick and injured pets around the country. Keen to repeat the success, the event will return in Spring with the date to be announced soon.

Cindy Jermon, Chairman of the local Bournemouth PDSA Group said:

“We are delighted by the success of the first-ever Boscombe charity Dog Show. It was great to see so many people taking part and we hope to repeat its success with another fun ‘Crufts on the Coast’ style competition in Spring!’’

Supported by the Bournemouth Coastal BID, the Dog Show took place amidst their Chinese New Year, Year of the Dog celebrations. Until the 10th March 2018, the ‘Go Bournemouth Coast’ free augmented reality app is bringing a virtual hunt to find ‘Lucky the Dog’ to local businesses.

Stefan Krause, Bournemouth Coastal BID Manager, said:

“We are pleased to support the PDSA and encourage dog owners everywhere to take part in the next Boscombe Dog Show. Bringing dog owners into the area, events such as this help to highlight Boscombe’s excellent array of dog-friendly businesses.’’

Rolled out across Bournemouth’s coastal areas, shoppers can take selfies with Lucky using the Go Bournemouth Coast app. They can then upload them to social media using the #GoBoCoast hashtag to be in with a chance of winning a host of family-friendly prizes including a Fujifilm Instax Mini 8 Camera. A list of participating businesses is available on the app.

Regular updates on the location of Lucky the Dog are also available on the Bournemouth Seasons social media pages. Tips and hints on the virtual dog’s whereabouts can also be found on associated business pages too.
