Residents and visitors to Dorchester will be able to attend a range of exciting events at Shire Hallthis year.

The Grade I listed building on High West Street, Dorchester, which contains the Old Crown Court and Cells where the trial of the Tolpuddle Martyrs was held in 1834, is now open for everyone to enjoy.

The Shire Hall events programme starts with the return of the popular guided tours around the Old Crown Court and Cells from Monday 21 April.

Other activities happening this year include a performance of ‘The Trials of Oscar Wilde’ in June, tours as part of the Tolpuddle Martyrs Festival in July and Halloween events in October.

West Dorset District Council Leader Cllr Robert Gould said: “People visiting Dorchester will be spoilt for choice with the amount of events happening at Shire Hall.

“There is a whole range of tours, talks and activities for anyone to enjoy.”
