Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s parking team has been recognised for the quality of their parking reports.

PATROL (Parking and Traffic Regulations Outside London) shortlisted the borough council’s annual parking report into the top four local authorities across England and Wales.

PATROL’s annual awards ceremony recognises the local authorities who have published the best reports on their parking services, as part of their civil enforcement reporting. The Government expects and encourages local authorities to produce a Civil Enforcement Annual Report, however this is not compulsory.

Cllr Ray Nowak, Weymouth & Portland Borough Council’s Transport and Infrastructure Briefholder, said: “It’s great that the borough council’s parking team is being recognised for the quality of the work they do. To be recognised in the top four of 304 local authorities across England and Wales is a great achievement.”

Residents and visitors to Weymouth are also reminded about the Christmas parking discount.

Users of Weymouth car parks will benefit from free parking on Friday 4 December from 1pm onwards. Then from Saturday 5 – Thursday 31 December, if people pay for one hour’s parking from 2pm onwards, they will get the remainder of the chargeable hours free.

The Christmas parking charge would apply to the following car parks: Governors Lane, Harbourside, Melcome Regis, Park Street, Royal Yard, Cosens Quay, the Pavilion and the Swannery.
