Officers investigating an incident where a cyclist sustained injuries in Poole are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received a report that at around 3.15pm on Sunday 6 June 2021 a cyclist, a man aged in his 40s, had sustained injuries after coming off his bike on Oakley Hill, shortly before the bridge over the River Stour heading toward Wimborne.

The cyclist was taken to hospital with a suspected head injury and also suffered facial injuries and broken ribs. He has subsequently been discharged from hospital.

Police Constable Tracey Downer, of the traffic unit, said: “Unfortunately the cyclist has little recollection of the incident and how he came to sustain his injuries so we are carrying out enquiries to establish the circumstances.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the incident and has not already spoken to police to please contact us. I would also ask that anyone who was driving in the area at the time and has dashcam fitted to their vehicle to please check their footage for anything relevant.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact Dorset Police at www.dorset.police.uk, via email [email protected] or by calling 101, quoting occurrence number 55210089661. Alternatively, to stay 100 per cent anonymous, contact the independent charity Crimestoppers online at Crimestoppers-uk.org or call freephone 0800 555 111.
