A Bournemouth retiree has used much of his life savings to create a New Security Device after reliving childhood horrors of a terrifying break-in at home more than half a century ago.

Gordon Forrester recalled how as a 10-year-old he protected his mother as someone broke down their front door and abused her.

According to the Office of National Statistics (ONS), 78% of people are burgled through their front door and in Dorset, where Gordon lives, the number of domestic burglaries reported has spiralled by more than 300 per cent in just 12 months.

In an attempt to communicate the benefits of the Lock and his story he contacted the following Organisations who claim to care but appear not to.

Gordon claims it is a ‘NATIONAL SCANDAL’ that of the nation’s 650 Members of Parliament who have been alerted about the UK epidemic in Burglary and Domestic Violence, 247 brushed him off by automatic reply, and 400 ignored the message entirely. He also contacted 171 Organisations dealing with Domestic Abuse / Rape / and the Vulnerable including the Salvation Army, YMCA, Church groups, Shelter who are also too busy to look at this solution.

Gordon said: “The problem is the lack of police on the streets. They don’t respond to burglaries as they don’t have the manpower. Things like CCTV have their uses but they don’t deter today’s thieves. They simply stick their hoods up and get on with it. People have keypads on doors but these can be hacked.

He added “it has taken tenacity, but I’m passionate about it and it’s probably the last thing I’ll do. That absolute fear I felt as a young boy has never left me but now I can say I did something – I didn’t sit on my backside”.

It is known as the “ Defender Door Lock https://www.defenderdoorlocks.co.uk/  and is mostly Solid Steel and weighs a robust 6.9 kilos.
