FORESTERS SUPPORT ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

Hugh Chalker, retiring as Chief Ranger of Honorary Court Highclere No. 1 Weymouth of the Ancient Order of Foresters- founded 126 years ago- presented a cheque for £800 to St. John Ambulance at Pilgrim House in Hope Square.

The Honorary Court has met in Weymouth four times a year, ever since 17 October 1887, when it was founded by Pelly Hooper, Town Clerk of Weymouth & Melcombe Regis for over 20 years.

Each Chief Ranger chooses a charity for his year of office and Hugh Chalker picked St. John Ambulance. He comments: “I chose St. John Ambulance because of the good works they have done for the people of Weymouth and Portland over many years.”

Foresters and their wives gathered at Pilgrim House, their new meeting venue, to present £800 to St. John Ambulance representatives Julie Dean and Pat Graham.
