JR Autotechnics have everything to celebrate in 2015 after relocating the business from the centre of Weymouth to Link Park at the end of 2014.  This was a significant move for the business however investment in new equipment and brand new purpose built premises means the future is looking bright for JR Autotechnics.

James Knight started his business in May 2005 following a successful career with a Weymouth based engineering company which specialised in producing high specification components for high performing racing cars.  Initially James set up J R Autotechnics as a mobile business but within two years he was searching for premises for the ever expanding business.

In 2008 JR Autotechnics opened in Crescent Street in the heart of Weymouth where it remained until 2010 when the business expanded into neighbouring premises.  Once again the business outgrew the available space and the time came to research bespoke business premises.  James Knight owner of JR Autotechnics said The first commercial property developers that came to mind were DJ Property who was introduced initially to me by a business associate.   As the business was now dealing with higher end vehicles and professional customers it was time to make the move and create the right impression for the business.  Mickey Jones of DJ Property was more than helpful in advising us on what type of property could be available to us and even suggested building the brand new 2,000 sq ft premises to our specifications. The plans included recesses for two in-floor ramps ensuring that even the lowest of lowered vehicles can be accommodated on the Four Wheel Alignment machine and also the correct ceiling height allowing us to install a large two post ramp so we can now accommodate commercial vehicles and motorhomes.

In 2012, James’wife Natalie joined the business on a full time basis, taking care of all administration, sales and customer service.  Natalie had years of experience working with national companies on logistics and customer service and her skills were well matched when it came totaking JR Autotechnics to the next level.  The business now employs three people and works on approximately 15–25 cars per day carrying out anything from a simple“while-u-wait”bulb replacement to a full engine rebuild in a controlled environment.  90% of customers are repeat customers and the company prides itself on doing a“Great Job Every Time”offering MOT’sby arrangement, servicing, diagnostics and four wheel alignment”.

Mickey Jones, Chief Executive of DJ Property, developers of Link Park said “JR Autotechnics are a prime example of a rapidly expanding family business in this area.  Hard work, dedication and a continuous desire to exceed expectations is what you can expect to receive from James and Natalie Knight.  It has been great to watch their business grow and I welcome the challenge of providing them with bigger and better business space in the future. This is yet another example of a niche high growth business in South Dorset.  Businesses like this will be the future of the local economy

JR Autotechnics will celebrate their 10thanniversary in May 2015 and are looking forward to a successful future in their new purpose built premises which have ample parking, easy access from the Chickerell Link Road and close proximity to the Granby Industrial Estate and Chickerell.
