Portland Council and other Councils in Dorset have done this too. We now trust that W&P’s reps on Dorset’s Health Scrutiny Committee (Cllr Kevin Brookes and Cllr Alison Reed) will use their votes next week to help safeguard health services for Weymouth and Portland, and vote ‘Yes’ for Referral.

August saw 16 Portland beds go, September saw 22 Ferndown beds go, October will see 16 Wareham beds go. We hear district nurses are struggling to cope!

We must also keep Specialist A+E and Maternity Services at Poole – we do not have these at Dorchester – travelling further, to congested Bournemouth, in a serious medical emergency will put W+P people at greater risk.
