Incident in Weymouth – CCTV appeal

Update:

Detectives investigating a possible sexual offence in Weymouth say a man has come forward.

At around 4am on Sunday 17 March 2019 Dorset Police was alerted to a concern for welfare of a woman on the beach in the vicinity of The Boat Café opposite The New Vic Bar and Restaurant. 

The 18-year-old woman was taken home by officers. Investigations are underway to establish whether any sexual offence took place. 

Following enquiries officers today, Thursday 21 March 2019, issued a CCTV image of a man they wished to speak to. A man has made contact with detectives and is assisting with their investigation. No arrests have been made. 

 

Detectives investigating a possible sexual offence in Weymouth are issuing a CCTV image of a man they would like to speak to.

At around 4am on Sunday 17 March 2019 Dorset Police was alerted to a concern for welfare of a woman on the beach in the vicinity of The Boat Café opposite The New Vic Bar and Restaurant.

The 18-year-old woman was taken home by officers. Investigations are underway to establish whether any sexual offence took place.

Following enquiries officers are keen to speak to a man who was seen in the area and could have important information that might help establish the circumstances of the incident. He is described as white, aged in his early 20s, with short dark hair and wore dark-coloured jeans and a dark blue T-shirt with a white logo across the chest.

Detective Constable Jacqui Gravenor, of Weymouth CID, said: “The man pictured in this CCTV image was seen in the area and we would like to talk to him to see if he has any information that could assist my investigation.

“I would ask the man pictured, or anyone who recognises him, to please contact Dorset Police.”
