Last call for Independent candidates in North and East Dorset as elections loom

Independent political group Alliance for Local Living for Dorset (All for Dorset) is holding a
series of public meetings this week, March 15 to provide information for potential independent candidates for May’s local elections. ALL for Dorset is raising awareness that there are alternatives to joining one of the major parties and that there is support available for local independent candidates.

The information and recruitment meetings are aimed at boosting the number of candidates standing in the north and east of the county and will take place at:
● The Globe Inn, Bell St, Swanage BH19 2RY this Tuesday 12 March at 7pm
● Blandford Forum Parish Centre, DT11 8YH this Friday 15 March at 7pm

Approximately one dozen candidates have been selected for the unitary and local elections on the All for Dorset slate and spokesman Luke Wakeling is keen to boost awareness of the group’s philosophy.

“We are an independent movement that is creating a local council formed of diverse local people from all walks of life. We are looking for candidates who are united by one vision: to make our neighbourhoods better, healthier and happier for everyone, today and tomorrow.

“We have good representation in south and west Dorset, so we now wish to contact like-minded people in Gillingham, Shaftesbury, Blandford, Wimborne, Wareham, Ferndown and Verwood to try and find more candidates.

“We shall be showing a ten minute section of the public speech made by Peter MacFadyen at the All for Dorset launch event at the end of January and candidates will be speaking about why they are standing. There will be a chance to ask them any questions and also to register standing for the May elections with ALL.”
