Lions Collect to spread festive Cheer in Weymouth

Weymouth & Portland lions club will be heading to Weymouth Town centre Saturday 4th December for their annual Christmas collection in order to raise funds to support worthy causes this Christmas.

The club kickstarted its Christmas actives with the return of its Christmas show which was re branded as the Lions Variety shown last Tuesday (30th November) at Weymouth Pavilion and is also preparing for the return of its Christmas Harbour swim that will take place on the 25th of December.

Lions President Kevin Brookes said “The club introduced a Christmas Street collection last year after the pandemic stopped much of its fundraising through the year in an aim to raise much needed funds to support local causes whist there was an ease in covid restrictions, it was so successful that it was decided to make it an annual event “

Lion Trevor Stratton the clubs Welfare Chair said “The club has already supported some very worthy causes this Christmas such as providing presents to the children of Westfield school & given a donation of £200 to the Dorset echo Toy appeal and continue to aid the Mayor of Weymouth with his Christmas Charity Fundraising”

Lion Ryan Hope the club’s activity Chairman Added “The money raised from the collection will be spent supporting other local causes this Christmas in Weymouth & Portland but we are also here to spread some much need Christmas cheer”   

The lions will be situated outside HSBC bank on St Marys Street from 10:00 till 16:00 and will be spreading the cheer with Music and the hopeful arrival of Santa’s sleigh Donations can also be received on line via
