Bournemouth based motivational coach, Lisa Pierson has shaved her head for the Forest Holme Hospice Charity

Lisa Pierson, Managing Director at ‘Moving You Forward’, recently shaved her hair off to raise funds for the Poole-based Forest Holme Hospice Charity. The hospice provides care and support for patients and families of those affected by cancer. Her motivation was drawn from losing family, friends and associates to cancer throughout the years. Lisa strives to give support to those who need to be recognised for their bravery and raise money to help a charity that offers such great care to patients.

The decision to shave her hair, as a protest against cancer, was drawn from her hair’s increased popularity. Lisa’s bright red streaked hair has been her trademark for over 20 years. After the shave, the hair was donated to the Little Princess Trust, an organisation that specialises in creating wigs for children suffering from hair-loss.

Lisa launched her ‘Just Giving’ page on September 18th. In the first 24 hours, she raised over £1500. Donations came from everywhere around the world, including Germany, Switzerland, Canada, America, Australia and Japan.

100% of the proceeds raised go directly to the Forest Holme Hospice Charity. The funding will be invested in the palliative care unit of the Forest Holme Hospice. £5000 has now been raised and the ‘Just Giving’ page will be open for another month.

The event took place on Saturday, October 7th at the Simone Thomas Hair Loss Clinic in Westbourne, among family, friends and Forest Holme Hospice Charity representatives.

Lisa Pierson said:

“The support received was fantastic! I am still amazed by the amount of money we managed to raise for this fantastic local charity. I wanted to do something that really would demonstrate my support to the charity and the great work it does.  Thank you to everyone who came along for the shave and for all the donations and good wishes.  I’m absolutely bowled over by the amount of money that’s been raised!”

Hannah Parsons, Fundraising & Communications Manager at Forest Holme Hospice said:

“Lisa is an inspiration to us all and we are so grateful for her gesture. The amazing sum raised will enable us to continue caring for local families who are living with the uncertainty of a life-limiting illness.”
