Dorset Police was informed of the collision on the Portland Beach Road at 11.25pm on Wednesday 28 June 2017.

The collision involved a blue BMW and a grey Peugeot 2008.

72-year-old Mervyn Thomas from Weymouth, who was a passenger in the Peugeot, sustained life-threatening injuries and sadly died the following afternoon.

A 50-year-old Yeovil man has been issued with a postal requisition to appear at Weymouth Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday 28 March 2018 for an offence of causing death by careless driving.
