Officers investigating an assault in Christchurch are issuing an image of a man they would like to speak to.

The incident occurred at around 9.45pm on Saturday 8 February 2020 in Lancer Close. The victim, a man aged in his 30s, approached a man who he believed was acting suspiciously in the street. The man then struck the victim, either with his fist or a bottle he was holding.

The blow caused the victim to lose consciousness. He suffered facial injuries and was treated in hospital for concussion.

The offender left the scene in a grey BMW.

Police Constable Sam Watt, of East Dorset police, said: “We are continuing to investigate this assault. We have obtained an image of a man we would like to speak to as part of our enquiries and have made efforts to identify him but these have so far been unsuccessful.

“I am now releasing the image in the hope that someone might recognise him. I would urge anyone with information as to this man’s identity to please contact us.”
