Holly Willoughby has expressed her condolences for the late This Morning guest and Labour councillor, Matty Lock, who passed away at the age of 19. The This Morning presenter took to Instagram to share her shock and sadness, saying, “Matty was a remarkable individual, deeply passionate about his pursuits… My heartfelt sympathy goes out to his loved ones during this undoubtedly challenging period.”

Mr. Lock had frequently appeared on the show as a vacuum cleaner reviewer and had been making strides in his political career as a rising star within the Labour Party. He had recently been elected as a councillor for his hometown, Maghull, in Merseyside, and also held a role as a parish councillor in Lydiate.

This Morning, in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter), described Matty as a “charming young man” and a “delight to collaborate with.” They highlighted his infectious enthusiasm for vacuum cleaners, a passion he had nurtured since childhood. Numerous celebrities, including Rylan Clark and Alison Hammond, offered their condolences. Rylan Clark remarked, “God, that’s truly heartbreaking. Sending love,” while Alison Hammond added, “What a devastating wake-up call. He was such a lovely man! Condolences to his family and friends.”

The Labour Party also paid tribute to Matty Lock, with a post shared by deputy party leader Angela Rayner. They acknowledged his tremendous potential and the admiration and affection he garnered within the party. Bill Esterson, the Labour MP for Sefton Central, shared his condolences, stating, “Many people will be devastated by the news of @CllrMLock’s passing. Matty was a delightful young man who had achieved so much and had many future plans. My thoughts are with him, his boundless enthusiasm, and his parents. Rest in Peace, Matty.”
