‘Tin’ was originally produced as a theatre production and toured to only five venues in Cornwall and Devon in Spring 2012. This exciting collaboration between Cornish troupe Miracle Theatre and English Touring Opera featuring community choirs alongside a professional cast including opera star, Ben Luxon, was a heady mix of epic theatre, multimedia magic and exceptional singing. For those who missed it, and for audiences worldwide, the company are now developing a filmed version, featuring Dudley Sutton and Jenny Agutter alongside the original cast, recreating the extraordinary world of 19th century tin-mining for the screen, using the latest digital technology combined with exquisitely crafted model sets to produce a ground-breaking new British film.

Shot over 15 days in a purpose built green screen studio in Cornwall, the story is loosely based on the novel Tin, about a notorious, real-life banking fraud. A down-at-heel touring opera company arrive in a Cornish village to perform Beethoven’s Fidelio, but their efforts to engage with the local community meet with limited success, until they become tangled in a scam to offload shares in a defunct mine.

Featuring extracts from the film and behind the scenes footage, thee exclusive evenings will be introduced by Miracle’s Artistic Director Bill Scott, and will be followed by an informal Q&A with Bill and a member of the cast. Miracle Theatre are familiar faces on the Artsreach circuit, and the counties rural touring scheme are proud to be touring these special screenings this spring, giving Miracle fans the chance to see the company in a different guise.
