A man obsessed with Nazi ideology who attempted to stab an asylum seeker to death has been sentenced to life imprisonment. Callum Parslow, 32, was handed a minimum term of 22 years and eight months after launching a brutal attack on 2 April last year, which he claimed was a “protest” against small boat crossings.
Parslow, who has Adolf Hitler’s signature tattooed on his arm, used a £770 knife he had purchased online to stab Nahom Hagos, an Eritrean man, while he was eating in the conservatory of the Pear Tree Inn, Hindlip, Worcestershire.
The victim suffered severe injuries to his chest and hand during the unprovoked assault, which he described as a “miracle” to have survived.
Sentencing Remarks
During the sentencing, Mr Justice Dove condemned Parslow’s actions, stating: “You committed a vicious and unprovoked assault on a complete stranger, Nahom Hagos, who suffered devastating injuries as a result of your violence.” Parslow was found guilty of attempted murder at his trial in October 2023.
Failed Manifesto Post
After the attack, as police closed in, Parslow attempted to share a “terrorist manifesto” on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). He tagged numerous public figures, including Tommy Robinson, Nigel Farage, Suella Braverman, Sir Keir Starmer, Boris Johnson, and Donald Trump, alongside media organisations.
In his post, Parslow claimed he had “just did my duty to England” and attempted to “exterminate” Mr Hagos. However, the post failed to send due to the excessive number of recipients he included.
Discovery of Nazi Memorabilia
The investigation revealed that Parslow harboured Nazi memorabilia at his bedsit in Worcester, including a swastika armband, a Nazi-era medallion, and copies of Hitler’s book Mein Kampf. Officers also found weapons, including an axe, a metal baseball bat, and a second knife.
Parslow additionally pleaded guilty to an unrelated sexual offence and two counts of sending electronic communications with the intent to cause distress or anxiety.
The case has drawn attention to the dangers of extremist ideologies and the devastating impact they can have on innocent lives.
