In line with a phenomenal year of growth, Actisense, the multi-award winning, specialist marine industry company has moved offices to take on much larger premises in Poole, Dorset

Phil Whitehurst started his company, Actisense, working from a small bedroom in his home back in 1997. Now, less than 20 years later, it is a world-leading, multi-award winning company with an international reputation for excellence. Now the ‘big fish’ has moved to a much bigger ‘pond’ as the company has relocated to premises in Harwell Road, Poole, double the size of their previous base.

Actisense is a specialist company designing, manufacturing and distributing high-tech electronic equipment for the marine industry. In the last 12 months, it has enjoyed phenomenal growth. Actisense now has 70 distributors operating in 40 countries covering the US to Singapore, from Spain to Finland, from New Zealand to Iceland and will soon be expanding into China and South America; employs a team of 17 highly skilled and qualified people, up from 11 less than two years ago; and has a turnover of more than £1.5million. It’s grown hugely in terms of reputation too, winning a slew of international, national and regional awards. Not bad for a business that started in a bedroom!

Now, in order to meet the demands that such growth brings, Actisense has moved to new premises in Harwell Road, Poole giving the company more than twice the floor space. They will be holding a celebratory official opening on Wednesday 12th October from 11.00am – 2.00pm.

Phil Whitehurst, CEO said:

“We are delighted with our new premises. We are constantly looking at ways of enhancing our existing products and inventing new ones in response to our customers’ needs. More space creates a more enjoyable working environment, makes it easier for us to be even more effective and productive, as well as providing the room needed for our continued expansion in-line with our forecasted growth.

“I must thank our amazing team, too, for the way everyone pulled together during the move. We left our previous premises on Friday, moved over the weekend, and by Tuesday morning it was business as usual!”
