The Bournemouth Town Centre Business Improvement District (BID) has appointed experienced businessman, Paul Kinvig to the position of Chief Operating Officer.

Bringing with him a wealth of business experience, Paul Kinvig has taken over the reins of the Bournemouth Town Centre BID. Utilising his knowledge and expertise he will be working closely with the board, levy payers and stakeholders to help Bournemouth’s bustling town centre grow and thrive.

Having lived in Bournemouth for over 22 years, Paul’s background includes media, economic development and business consultancy roles at Managing Director and Chief Executive level. Heading the Town Centre BID, Paul will now be looking into new ways to enhance the local trading environment. This will include initiatives to help develop Bournemouth’s commercial, shopping and leisure sectors.

Paul, said:

“Across the UK, our town centres are facing a multitude of challenges to their future vitality and viability. However, Bournemouth is bucking the national trend with increasing footfall in 2017 and we need to build on this success. By harnessing the whole team’s skill & passion for business, we aim to generate a wealth of new opportunities to aid the prosperity of our town centre businesses.”

The Bournemouth Town Centre BID is an independent organisation, funded by levy paying businesses within the town centre area and overseen by a board of those levy payers. Coming together they invest in marketing, promotions, events, a welcoming team of town Rangers, plus cleaning and litter collection service. These activities aim to raise the profile of the town centre, increase footfall and ultimately bring more customers to local businesses.

Paul continued:

“I know that Bournemouth is well placed to overcome national challenges through new business and creative high street initiatives. At the BID we’re dedicated to working with and for the businesses in the town centre to help generate, realise and take advantage of those opportunities.’’

Currently, Paul is making himself known throughout the BID area and is encouraging local businesses to connect and engage with the Town Centre BID.

Paul added:

“I’m really looking forward to getting stuck in with my new role. It’s a real privilege to be working with a team that is so committed to supporting the future direction, growth and success of the town centre.’’
