Hadland Care Group held its annual awards ceremony on Saturday with a masquerade theme, to reward staff members for their contributions over the past year. The group consists of Tops Day Nurseries, the Aspire Training Team and Reside Care Homes and employs over 430 staff in more than 18 settings and care homes across Dorset, Somerset and Hampshire.

In total, 25 awards were given to employees for efforts in learning achievements, financial improvements, HR support, health and safety and more. Colleagues were invited to nominate one individual from each Tops Day Nursery in advance to receive an ‘ABCD Award’ for going ‘above and beyond the call of duty’, and these were also presented at the ceremony held at AFC Bournemouth Seward Stadium.

The ‘Significant Change in a Nursery Award’, which was this year’s Managing Director’s Choice, was presented to Magdalena Zuber for her outstanding contribution as manager of the Royal Bournemouth Hospital nursery. Magda was also nominated by her fellow colleagues to receive the ABCD Award, so was recognised twice during the course of the evening.

Cheryl Hadland, Managing Director of Hadland Care Group, said: “The ‘Magda effect’ has been nothing short of astounding in the short time she has been a manager. Her leadership and management has been exemplary, and a wonderful example to us all of how one person can make a difference to the lives of hundreds of children and their families, along with 40 staff and their families. I thank Magda with all my heart from all of us.”

One of the staff members who nominated Magda for the award said: “Magda is a very supportive leader. She has the best interest of the children and her staff at heart. She knows how to motivate and encourage staff so as to get the best out of them. I look forward to working with her every day.”
