Officers are appealing for witnesses and anyone with relevant dashcam footage to come forward following a serious injury collision on the A31 in East Dorset.

At 12.16pm on Saturday 4 December 2021 officers were called to reports of a serious injury collision on the A31 near to the Roundhouse roundabout, which links to the A350, involving a blue and white Yamaha motorcycle and a brown Renault panel van.

The rider of the motorcycle is believed to have sustained very serious injuries, which are potentially life changing. The driver of the van was uninjured.

Police Constable Mark Burton, of the traffic unit, said: “We understand both the motorcycle and van were travelling along the A31 from Bere Regis toward the roundabout when the collision occurred.

“I would ask anyone who witnessed the incident, or saw either vehicle being driven prior to the collision, to please contact Dorset Police.

“I would also ask any motorists who were travelling along the A31 at the relevant time and may have captured the collision or vehicles on dashcam to please get in touch.

“The A31 remains closed while emergency services respond to this incident and I would like to thank motorists for their patience and understanding and ask them to seek alternative routes to avoid being delayed.”
