A passenger involved in a road traffic collision near Sherborne in January has sadly died from his injuries.

At 5.50pm on Saturday 26 January 2019 Dorset Police received a report of a collision involving a single vehicle that had left the carriageway at Tiley Knap, Middlemarsh. The vehicle involved was a silver Peugeot Boxer van.

The fire service attended to assist as a passenger in the van was trapped in the vehicle. The 37-year-old man from Sherborne suffered serious injuries and was taken by air ambulance to Southampton General Hospital. He has since died from his injuries.

His family continue to be supported by specially-trained family liaison officers.

The driver of the van, a 43-year-old man from Somerset, was arrested on suspicion of driving offences and taken to Dorset County Hospital by ambulance as a precaution. He has been released under investigation as officers continue to make enquiries.
