Suspected Arson in Shaftesbury

UPDATE:A teenage boy arrested in connection with a reported suspicious fire in Shaftesbury has been released from the investigation without charge.

At around 7.20pm on Thursday 12 July 2018 Dorset Police received a report of a large fire off Allen Road.

The fire service attended and extinguished the blaze. Extensive damage was caused to a barn and a forklift unit.

While the cause of the fire is still to be confirmed, officers are treating the incident as suspicious.

A 15-year-old boy arrested on suspicion of arson was released without charge.

 

 

Officers investigating a reported suspicious fire in Shaftesbury are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

At around 7.20pm yesterday, Thursday 12 July 2018, Dorset Police received a report of a large fire off Allen Road.

The fire service attended and extinguished the blaze. Extensive damage was caused to a barn and a forklift unit.

While the cause of the fire is still to be confirmed, officers are treating the incident as suspicious.

A 15-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of arson and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Constable George Graham, of Weymouth CID, said: “We are making enquiries into this incident and I am appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

“I would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and witnessed any suspicious activity.”
