Talbot Village Trust secures the future of Girlguiding West Moors

Talbot Village Trust has donated just under £4,000 to Girlguiding West Moors to modernise the exterior of the Guide Hall, located in West Moors, Dorset.

Girlguiding West Moors consists of local groups of Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, and Rangers who all use the hall on a weekly basis. An extensive range of activities is covered to ensure that all of the girls’ interests are met. These activities range from archery, to arts and crafts and cooking. The funding received has been used to update the exterior of the hall which means the overall maintenance of the building is now secure for the future.

Jane Songhurst, district commissioner of Girlguiding West Moors, said: “This generous grant has allowed us to be hopeful for the future as we can now be assured that the hall is in a suitable condition to carry on being used on a regular basis, and be enjoyed by all of the girls.

“The hall is a focal point of our community and without it we wouldn’t be able to run the groups that we do here, and for that we are so grateful for this funding.”

Russell Lucas-Rowe, Trustee of Talbot Village Trust, added: “It is so important that young people in the community are given the opportunity to come together once a week to make new friends, enjoy new activities and work together. Girlguiding has a strong presence in West Moors and we are proud to have helped keep the unit operating in the village.”

Talbot Village Trust meets biannually, and will be accepting applications for funding from both previous and new applicants in the area before the Trustees meet in spring next year. Please go to www.talbotvillagetrust.orgfor more information.
