This autumn, Artsreach and Farnham Maltings invite you to The Iranian Feast. Part mystery, part thriller and part cookery lesson, The Iranian Feast is the story of a family working out how life will be in the future and features delicious Persian food, song and Iranian dancing.
Danial is a loving father, a great friend and a fantastic cook. He has gathered his friends and extended family – you, the audience – to join him to eat food and celebrate life. As they prepare the food a story unfolds of a family in crisis that is trying to live an extraordinary life in extraordinary times.Set in modern day Tehran, the play issurprising, uplifting and a celebration of being alive. Going in the pot are fresh herbs, spices, sweet vegetables, and Eli’s mother’s secret ingredient.
Touring to village venues in partnership with Artsreach rural Touring Scheme, The Iranian Feast is a contemporary piece of British theatre written and directed by Kevin Dyer. Farnham Maltings is passionate about rural touring and this new play is made especially for village halls. Artistic Director, Gavin Stride says:
‘There is always something special about starting with this audience. Because in rural touring we are the visitors to spaces that are familiar to the audience where actors and community enter and exit through the same door, drink in the same pub, even use the same toilets. This makes the whole event different. The balance changes. At its best, rural touring theatre is less a service and more like a conversation. Which is how good theatre should be. A conversation amongst friends about matters of importance.’
Take your place at the table and join The Iranian Feast in Dorset this October.
