Dorset County Hospital’s Damers Restaurant has received top marks for food safety and hygiene.

West Dorset District Council’s environmental health team awarded the restaurant and kitchen five stars (excellent) following a recent inspection.

The following criteria are used to determine the number of hygiene stars given to premises:

·   food hygiene and safety of food

·   cleanliness and structural conditions

·   confidence in management, for example past record in terms of complying with the law.

Hospital Catering Services Manager Derrick Stevens said: “With this rating we now have a five-star rating across the board, including our Terrace Café.

“Food safety and hygiene is a very important part of our daily operation and this high standard is thanks to the dedication and hard work of the catering team.”
