Officers investigating a fatal road traffic collision near Beaminster are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

The incident, which involved a white motorcycle, happened along the A3066 near South Dibberford Cottage and was reported to police at 1.05pm on Sunday 10 October 2021.

Sadly, the motorcyclist – a man in his 50s and from Exeter – died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.

The road was closed to enable emergency services to attend the incident.

Police Sergeant Sarah Jones, of the traffic unit, said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the motorcyclist who very sadly died.

“I am appealing for any witnesses to the collision who have not yet spoken with police to please come forward.

“Also, I would like to hear from anyone who observed the manner of driving of the motorcycle leading up to the incident and any motorists who may have captured relevant dashcam footage.

“Finally, we are aware that the road closure greatly impacted the traffic in this area and I would like to reassure motorists that this was absolutely necessary to allow emergency services to safely respond to the incident and thoroughly examine the scene.”
