WeyForward is a community directed, grassroots group that is looking to improve the economic outlook for people in Weymouth and Portland. The prospects for young people over the last decade have become increasingly bleak with applications for vacancies reaching well over forty per position. Young people face years working up the corporate ladder in order to get into jobs that do not really interest them or impact on them emotionally.

Generation Y, in fact, desires job satisfaction and social reward rather than monetary success and progress into positions of authority. These jobs do exist, but it seems more likely that young people are going to have to create these lifestyles and career paths themselves. One of the ways that they can be supported in doing this is by the community coming together to promote the well-being of young adults, assisting them with their ideas and aiding their projects with encouragement, guidance and the provision of suitable platforms to develop social enterprises, cooperative ventures and creative social outbursts.

WeyForward have created a platform on Google+ to help young people come together to develop their personal projects, bringing in guidance from people that already have experience in the field of interest. The tools of the platform give young people the chance to share documents and files using Drive, record and minute online meetings through Hangouts and link in useful websites and comment on each others’ ideas.

The wider community can comment and vote on these ideas through the #WeyForward webpage and idea scale platform.

The sites can be found here: www.weyforward.ideascale.com AND  www.weyforward.net AND https://plus.google.com/communities/105136762619095111407?partnerid=ogpy0
