I have visited Notre Dame Cathedral a number of times over the years. I am not religious. It is just a beautiful and inspiring experience in which one can feel calm and in awe.
I have never visited Grenfell. It was a construction to house people so much more unlikely that I would venture there.
How many world leaders and prominent international figures tweeted their sympathy at 72 dead people? How many have shown their sadness at a religious building in which one person was seriously injured?
A twitter friend has just bravely shared with me their thoughts about #NotreDame, and I have to say I agree.
Of course Notre Dame is important, but do people really care more about buildings than people? Look how quickly 2 billionaires pledged 300 million to the restoration.

I am not here to judge but I am here to point out where everything is wrong in western… culture.
We are killing the planet. We are killing people who we are conditioned to see as less important. We are killing empathy.Â
Notre Dame is beautiful though.
