Witness appeal following alleged assault in Weymouth

Officers are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward following an alleged assault and affray in Weymouth.

It was reported that at around 12.30am on Sunday 3 September 2017 the victims, two Dorchester men aged 18, pulled up in their car outside the Wyke Smugglers pub on Portland Road and were approached by a group of four teenagers, who were known to the victims.

One of the victims was reportedly pulled from the vehicle. The other victim got out of the car and was allegedly struck on the back of the head with a glass bottle.

He suffered two lacerations to the top of his head and was taken to hospital. The other victim sustained minor grazing and bruising.

A 17-year-old boy from Weymouth was arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. Two 17-year-old boys from Portland and a Weymouth boy, also aged 17, have been arrested on suspicion of affray. They have all been released under investigation.

Investigations Officer Matt Jackson, of Dorset Police, said: “Our investigation into this incident is ongoing and I would ask any witnesses who have not yet spoken to police to please contact us.”
