Officers investigating an alleged theft of a large quantity of wood in Bere Regis are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.

Dorset Police received reports that wood worth in excess of £10,000 was stolen from a Dorset Wildlife Trust site in Bere Regis on Saturday 24 December 2022 and on Sunday 1 January 2023.

Following enquiries, a 53-year-old local man was arrested on suspicion of theft and released under investigation.

Officers also seized a tractor as part of the investigation and a notice was served that wood that had been located is to remain in situ while enquiries to establish ownership are conducted.

Police Constable Tim Watford, of North and East Dorset police, said: “I am appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything in relation to the incident or has information that could help with my investigation to please come forward.”
