Almost half of Dorset is officially recognised as OUTSTANDING – an astonishing mix of beautiful landscapes and great views round every corner. TheDorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beautyteam want to shout about how great this landscape is but, as pictures speak louder than words, they need your help! A very generous £500 worth of prizes is to be split between entries of the Land of Bone & Stone and the wider Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty(AONB) area.

Sue Dampney AONB Communications officer says:

We would love photos of favourite views, places you hold dear, whether you live here or are visiting on holiday .Or photos of great days out in the Dorset countryside – from mini-adventures with your grandchildren, to beautiful romantic sunsets, caught in a moment.”

The team would also love submissions from the South Dorset Ridgeway (aka The Land of Bone & Stone) between Dorchester, Weymouth and Bridport, bringing alive the spirit of this enigmatic landscape, and for the first time this year, there will also be a digital category.

James Sharpe the South Dorset Ridgeway Landscape Partnership Manager says: –

The judges for the South Dorset Ridgeway category will award extra points for images that capture ‘what makes this Land of Bone & Stone special for you’, something that captures a special moment featuring you, your friends and/or family.  It is more about what the picture conveys than its technical brilliance (although we want to see those beautiful landscape shots too) so there is every chance the winning entry will be taken on your phone!  It’s all about capturing that special moment!”

Winning entries from previous photo competitions have been used successfully in many AONB publications and promotional material, helping to capture the mood and beauty of the area, with incredibly high- quality images submitted in the past. The best entries of this year’s Site Seeing competition will also be included in an exhibitionearly in 2017. The competition is open to both professional and amateur photographers.

With Britain’s first Adventure Day planned for July 17th what are you waiting for!

For more rules for submission and more information, please visit the Dorset AONB website www.dorsetaonb.org.uk, the closing date for entries is 30th September 2016.
