Rarely does anyone, let alone the corporate media hold them to their own code of conduct.

Too often the corporate media looks the other way or merely pays lip service.

Thankfully the corporate media is now shrinking with the independent alternative media rising up to the challenge of replacing them as the ‘nemesis’ of the abusers of power.

The seven principles as listed are:

1. Selflessness

Holders of public office should act solely in terms of the public interest.

2. Integrity

Holders of public office must avoid placing themselves under any obligation to people or organisations that might try inappropriately to influence them in their work. They should not act or take decisions in order to gain financial or other material benefits for themselves, their family, or their friends. They must declare and resolve any interests and relationships.

3. Objectivity

Holders of public office must act and take decisions impartially, fairly and on merit, using the best evidence and without discrimination or bias.

4. Accountability

Holders of public office are accountable to the public for their decisions and actions and must submit themselves to the scrutiny necessary to ensure this.

5. Openness

Holders of public office should act and take decisions in an open and transparent manner. Information should not be withheld from the public unless there are clear and lawful reasons for so doing.

6. Honesty

Holders of public office should be truthful.

7. Leadership

Holders of public office should exhibit these principles in their own behaviour. They should actively promote and robustly support the principles and be willing to challenge poor behaviour wherever it occurs.

We thought we would test Dorset Eye’s credentials as an independent media discrete from the iron fist of the state propaganda regime with some examples of where Dorset Eye has helped in revealing the abuse of these principles. We have had to restrict it to two for each as unlike cats we only have one life.

Selflessness:

Following the Health & Social Care Act of 2012 in which the capacity of the private sector to run… the NHS was significantly increased. This from the year after:

333 donations from private healthcare sources totalling £8.3 million gifted to the Tories

Integrity

Disgusted at Tories Cheering The Continued Stagnation Of Emergency Services Incomes?

Objectivity

Anarchy and chaos by the rich and powerful: The aim is to implement toxic change out of sight of the public

Accountability

Dominic Raab ‘too scared to answer questions’ on government Covidshambles

Openness

Look who’s bankrolling the Tories folks!

Sound logic and empirical evidence are up against some powerful enemies

Honesty

This was probably the easiest in a very close field. Being honest is akin to climbing Everest in roller skates for this government and many of its predecessors. Any number of submissions could have been chosen but the two we chose are:

Strap yourselves in folks, one of the political stories of the century is brewing…

Government’s testing target boast is a lie. Here is why

Leadership:

DON’T BE GULLIBLE: IT’S THE TERRORIST SYMPATHISING TORIES THAT OFFER WEAK, UNSTABLE LEADERSHIP

OUR PRIME MINISTER LADIES & GENTLEMEN

Just some of the examples of which there are numerous. Check us out daily and we will bring you evidence of how all or some of the seven principles have been ignored or eviscerated.

Why then very little or no mention by the right wing corporate media as to how, why, when, where and who in government is not taking them seriously ?

Perhaps that same media are also up to their forelocks in ensuring that the most inept, incompetent and untruthful government in recorded history maintain the capacity to disregard the seven principles as laid out.

Aaron Bastani nails the Sun, Mail, Express and Telegraph

Whatever the reason… it is only the alternative independent media who have as their raison d’etre to expose the hypocrisy and crimes of the government and their partners (in crime) and democracy has no hope until we all comes to the party.
