A man has pleaded guilty to killing his 82-year-old step-grandfather in Poole.

Matty Locks, 26 and of Ashley Road in Poole, appeared at Winchester Crown Court today, Monday 24 June 2019, and pleaded guilty to the manslaughter of Charles Taylor on the grounds of diminished responsibility.

He is due to be sentenced on Monday 5 August 2019.

At 8.31pm on Monday 17 December 2018 Dorset Police was called by the ambulance service to reports that a man aged in his 80s had been assaulted at an address in Phyldon Close.

Mr Taylor sustained serious head injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment. Very sadly, he died in hospital on the evening of Tuesday 1 January 2019.

Following the death of Mr Taylor, a murder investigation was launched by detectives from Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT).
