Detectives investigating an alleged assault in Bournemouth have made an arrest.

Dorset Police received a report at 4.44am on Sunday 24 December 2023 that a man was located with a head injury on Charminster Road.

It is reported that the victim, aged in his 40s and from Poole, was assaulted by a man. His injuries are described as serious.

A cordon was put in place and the road was closed to allow for a detailed examination of the scene to be carried out.

Following enquiries, a 33-year-old man from Poole has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Bell, of BCP CID, said: “Our investigation is continuing, and I am still keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or has footage to assist our enquiries.

“I would like to thank the public once again for their patience while the cordon was in place. Local officers can continue to be approached by anyone with information or concerns.”
