Following a ‘summer break’ Lansdowne’s award-winning street market and carnival, Metropole Market, returns on Sunday 30th September with a spectacular Steampunk theme.

On Sunday 30th September, from 11 am to 5pm, Lansdowne is set to be transformed into a fantasy land of Neo-Victorian thrills as Metropole Market takes over Holdenhurst Road once again for its latest themed street market and carnival. Funded by Bournemouth Town Centre BID, Metropole Market promises to bring with it a host of fantastic independent trade stalls and enthralling entertainers to complement the areas vast array of local retailers, bars and restaurants.

Regularly attracting 10 thousand plus visitors, each event is centred on an immersive and captivating theme which encourages people in attendance to become part of the occasion with their own eccentric costumes. With this month’s theme announced as ‘Steampunk’ market-goers can expect plenty of costumers to embrace the science fiction trend which combines the future and the past, reimagining modern technologies as if they were made in the Victorian era and powered by steam.

Stalls at this month’s market will range from Steampunk inspired bookmarks from Trapeze Jewellery, Barrie Pictures with Victorian prints of Dorset, homemade fudge from Ministry of Fudge, to The Unusual Pork Pie Company which recently received a prestigious three stars at this year’s Great Taste Awards. Over 60 traders are set to be in attendance.

Complementing the theme there will also be entertainment from returning favourites ‘Mother Ukers’ with their own unique ‘Ukular Fusion’ – ukulele renditions of songs from modern pop, punk, classic rock, swinging 60s and fabulous 50s. Plastic Jeezus are also onboard to charm market visitors with their unusual and alternative tunes.
