Weymouth Town Council are delighted to announce the programme of sport and activities on Weymouth Beach this summer. The programme features a rich mix of events, sport and activities, all based at the temporary ‘Beach Sports Arena’ on Weymouth Beach (Weymouth Pavilion end). The Arena will feature free grandstand seating for all events, public address system for commentary and music plus marquee for participants support. The programme opens on Wednesday 17th July with the Royal Navy Rugby Competition and concludes with the prestigious Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic on Sunday 28th July. All events are free to spectate and entry details (where applicable) are available through the individual organisations.

Weymouth Town Council Chairman of Services Cllr David Northam said:

“Weymouth is a fabulous destination for hosting events and festivals throughout the year. The summer sports programme on Weymouth Beach is always a great favourite, providing a unique range of sports, activities and competitions on one of the world’s favourite playing surfaces This project is a splendid example of collaboration and teamwork, our thanks and praise go to the many local sports clubs, armed forces and tireless army of volunteers that have joined the Weymouth Town Council to help make this project a great success.”

Directors of Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic Graeme Sawyer and Peter Bennett said:
“We are amazed and proud to be in our fourth decade for hosting the country’s favourite Beach Volleyball Championships on Weymouth Beach. With the best players already signed up and fabulous support from the local club, Weymouth Town Council, The Weymouth BID and many local businesses this year promises to be one of the biggest and best ever. We are delighted to be part of the Weymouth summer beach programme and look forward to putting on a fabulous event for competitors and spectators.”

Monday 15th July – Grandstand seating set up, barriers and fencing delivered

Wednesday 17th July – Royal Navy Rugby Event (9am – 5pm)

Thursday 18th July – Portesham School Sports Day (10am – 2pm)
(Marquee Arrives on site)

Friday 19th July – Multisports Event set up (site bins, power and PA, all Beach Office sports equipment set up arrive)

Saturday 20th July – Day 1 of Multisports Event (beach & water sports) – Weymouth Bay Swim Event 1.2m/2.4m (starts at Bowleaze, finishing at Sports Site, Pavilion end of beach)

Sunday 21st July – Day 2 of Multisports Event (beach & water sports)

Monday 22nd – Site clear up and change over day

Tuesday 23rd – ‘Chance to Shine’ Junior Cricket Event

Wednesday 24th July – Royal Navy Football (8am – 4pm)
– Set up Beach Volleyball Classic (5pm – 10pm)

Thursday 25th July – Weymouth Classic Volleyball set up
– Nantes Charity Volleyball Event (6pm – 10pm)

Friday 26th July – Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic (1pm – 7pm)

Saturday 27th July – Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic (9am – 7pm)

Sunday 28th July – Weymouth Beach Volleyball Classic (Finals Day)

Monday 29th July – Grandstand / Marquee and site breakdown (clear by 4pm)
