Officers investigating an assault on a taxi driver in Bournemouth are issuing a CCTV image of the suspect.

At around 4.40am on Sunday 24 June 2018 the victim picked up a man in his taxi at the Texaco petrol station on Holdenhurst Road.

The man asked for the driver to take him in the direction of Spring Road and while travelling along Windham Road he began arguing with the victim.

The man then struck the driver on the back of the head with a glass bottle. The victim stopped his vehicle and the suspect ran away from the scene.

The victim did not sustain any injuries that required medical attention.

The suspect is described as black and was wearing a white striped top, dark trousers and blue and white striped flip flops.

Police Constable Lee Bedding, of Bournemouth police, said: “We have made a number of enquiries into this incident and have obtained CCTV footage from inside the Co-Operative store at the Texaco petrol station showing the suspect before he was picked up by the taxi.

“We have made efforts to identify this man but have so far not been successful and I am appealing for anyone who recognises him, or who has any information about this incident, to please contact us.”
