The fascist Britain First group is to stand a candidate in Weymouth in the May elections. It will intervene in the Littlemoor and Preston ward: its members have already appeared on the Littlemoor estate.

Britain First is led by hardline fascists recently convicted and imprisoned for serious crimes. The group’s founder has links to Loyalist paramilitaries in Northern Ireland. Its members’ favourite activity is invading mosques and “baiting” Muslims.

Stand Up to Racism (SUTR) has been established to address this threat and wider issues of racism in Dorset. SUTR is a national organisation supported by many trade unions and community organisations. Its president is Diane Abbott MP; other elected officers include Rabbi Lee Wax, Christine Blower of the education union NEU, and Talha Ahmed of the Muslim Council of Britain. SUTR Dorset will be informing Weymouth voters about the threat of Britain First as a violent, racist organisation that has no place in our communities. We have called a Planning Meeting next Monday, March 18 at 7.30pm in the Centenary Club, Jubilee Close, Weymouth. Please do attend. We believe it’s important that trade unions, political parties and community groups are fully involved.

This message comes to you from WeyPAW, which supports SUTR and all initiatives to contest racism.
