The only explanation that I hear is that people are shopping on line, and to some extent that is true, what I think people are not considering is that now so many people are on minimum wage and zero hours contacts that no one has money to spend on the high street.

17,000,000 voted for Brexit, a lot stating downward pressure on wages, with rents, council tax, utility bills all going up and everything else, people do not have money over.

I know so many people that now look for clothes on Facebook, ebay and charity shops before going anywhere near the high street.

The minimum wage has become the maximum wage so don’t be surprised if the high street ceases to exist.
