Who Has Blood On Their Hands?

I was following a thread on the Dorset Eye group page yesterday in which some people complained about an image used as an inset to an article. It depicted a victim of a car crash in which the airbag had failed to open properly. One dissenter left the group when he did not get the response he desired. His angst at this image and the defense provided for it led him to leave with his tail between his legs. Apparently his argument was a hypothetical proposition that his 8 year old might have been sitting with him as he trawled through Facebook. Really? As was pointed out if this was really what gets him angry given everything else occurring on social media and beyond I suspect that there must be something else unrelated that has raised his hackles.

One of these might be the number of people, including those who call themselves representative politicians, who voted for these 2 children to DIE (see inset pic). They can deny it but those of us in the know are fully aware of their complicity. They might blame the Russians but we know the reality. Blood on their hands and everyone else who contributed by supporting an abstraction thousands of miles away. Not an abstraction to those dying; surviving or fleeing but to those basking in ignorance and lack of compassion in their centrally heated safe European homes that are a fortunate distance away. They must not deceive themselves: they are as guilty as the politicians or the pilots….

For those of you who despise imperialism and xenophobia and can empathise with those who suffer and want to support them in any way possible I salute you. It is a shame we have to share a planet with the rest but for most of us our strength will see us through. There will be those who take overdoses; jump in front of trains… as the sickness impacts directly upon them. But we must seek to support each other and fight back in any way possible. Our existential salvation depends upon it.
