Oh how those days have flown by. How joyous the mood has been since that day in June 2016 when a united country became even more united and put their middle finger up to that nasty European Union of twenty seven countries. How sponditious it was to no longer be part of a big blob. We could now be a mini blob.

The smiles and the laughter as the collective slapped each other on the back and embraced with words of gratitude. We all thanked each other. We delivered in to the hands of the Tory multi millionaires. They would continue to look out for us with promises of privatisation, welfare cuts, tax havens, culture wars, covid corruption and mismanagement, nepotism, lies, food poverty, racism, sexual molestation…. Oh how we expressed our appreciation and glee.

We put our faith in ex city spivs and bankrolled politicians. As long at they were white and spoke in toungues we were satisfied.

Few of us understood the workings of the European Union. As long as we had something to blame for our ills we were contented. Many of us had a sense that it was run by big corporations but then so is the UK and pretty much every other country on the planet so that was not a reason. We knew that it was undemocratic and ignored most of the electorate but then so does almost every country on the planet. That could not be the reason. We knew that it was brimming with corruption. Again they are far from alone as the UK government have shown us time and time again. We were aware that it took more from the UK than it gave back. But then many members of the government sell off our public services to their rich mates and squirell off our taxes… in to their Panamanian… bank accounts. That could not be it.

So what was it? Is it because we wanted our country back? Yes that’s it. We gave it to a known liar and cheat and his lying cheating buddies because we could trust them to set us freeeeeeee. Thank goodness for liars and cheats to let the caged bird fly away.

Whenever we celebrate the unconfined liberty we must at the same moment honour corruption, lies and deceit on our own doorsteps. We must pronounce them the best in the world. That European Union could never beat us at that. We perfected it.

And we must rejoice at the capacity for invention (with a little help from the US). Hate entrepreneurialism is now a cornerstone of the UK and nobody does it better.

God bless the UK and all who are buried in her.
