A body has very sadly been found in the search for a man who went missing in the water in the Bridport area.

Dorset Police was called at 2.55pm on Sunday 3 November 2019 to a report of concern for welfare of a man in the water near to Freshwater Beach Holiday Park.

It is reported that the man, aged in his 20s, was walking along the beach with a woman when a wave swept them out to sea. The woman made it back to shore and was treated by the ambulance service.

Officers carried out extensive searches, assisted by HM Coastguard, the RNLI, the NPAS helicopter and the ambulance service.

On Monday 4 November 2019 a body of a man was very sadly found on Hive beach. While the body is yet to be formally identified, it is believed to be that of the man who went missing near to Freshwater Beach Holiday Park.

His family has been informed and the coroner has also been notified.
