One of Bristol’s best current bands The Hawkmen will be playing three Dorset venues in January and February as part of an early 2018 tour.

The band will play Dorchester on January 19 (supporting The Surfin’ Birds at their album launch gig in the Corn Exchange), The Ropemakers in Bridport on January 26 and The Belvedere in Weymouth on February 17.

Blending an original mix of rockabilly and northern soul, delivered in style by singer Scarlett Fagan, the Hawkmen have recently attracted attention from major BBC Radio DJ Craig Charles. Repeated airplay on his funk and soul show has been followed by inclusion of their new single Love Is Blind on his latest compilation CD. This ringing endorsement has led to a number of major festival bookings in 2018 and a planned European tour, so this is likely to be a rare opportunity to see them play some intimate Dorset shows.

The tour is being organised by local promoters Fuelled By Cider, responsible for the Cursus Cider & Music Festival in Dorset. Promoter Kev Davis said: “It’s a real coup to bring a band of this quality down to Dorset as part of a UK tour, and a great way to raise their profile locally ahead of their performance at  Cursus Festival on May 27th

Entry to the Ropemakers and Belvedere gigs will be free and tickets to the Surfin’ Birds album launch night in Dorchester can be bought via the Dorchester Arts website www.dorchesterarts.org.uk.
