If one is mistaken and what we argued for turns out to be much worse than what we railed against then one can understand why a person holds their hands up and admits they were wrong. However, when it turns out to be apocalyptic, one generally goes around with an ‘I told you so’ expression. In Liz Truss’ case she has switched sides for no other reason than the gang she wants to be part of welcomes the apocalypse for us but has far too much wealth for it to impact on them. She has been welcomed even though she has absolutely no principles.
Truss has travelled from Remain and the Lib Dems to Leave and far right Tories. She is an out and out opportunist but one who has to lie over and over to pass the acceptance test.
In 2016 at the time of the Referendum we had this Liz Truss:
Then something happened. We can only speculate and given her history of adultery we must not jump to conclusions. However, by 2019 we had a new Liz Truss. Muddled but backed by much of the billionaire corporate media and some very shadowy, very wealthy people this Truss had gone full on Tory Brexit.
Confused and easy to deconstruct her arguments but she probably appeals to those who are clueless about the realities of domestic and international politics. If one prefers dishonesty then the current Tory cabinet and Truss are perfect.
Thus now we have a Truss on the verge of becoming PM. One who shifts like sand for her own ends. One who has a history of adultery and destroying families. One who is prepared to abandon the vulnerable to become the leader of a country desperate for the millions of vulnerable people to be supported. One who has become a fully fledged sociopath. And one who when speaking at the Despatch box completely embarrasses herself, her party and the UK.
Why have we become a country in which our leaders are lying lame ducks?
