Residents are invited to attend this years United Nations Day service on Tuesday 24 October. The Mayor of Weymouth and Portland Borough Council Cllr Kevin Brookes will host a short service in Weymouth to recognise international United Nations Day. The service is open to the public. It will take place at the Weymouth and Portland Borough Council Offices on Commercial Road at 10:30am.

The service will include the raising of the UN Flag followed by speeches from the Mayor and the President of the Weymouth and Portland Lions Club, Roger Hogbin. This is followed by a reading and prayers led by the Mayor’s Chaplain, Revd Philip Elliot.

Mayor Cllr Kevin Brookes said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to represent the borough and host this proud civic event, recognising United Nations Day. It acknowledges the outstanding humanitarian work carried out by the UN throughout the world.”

The Mayor will be joined by representatives of local business groups, friends of the parks and gardens, borough councillors and members of the public.
